Frequently asked questions
Why do I need an API key?
Your key (or a supported provider sign-in) lets the desktop app ask the AI service you choose to adapt selected passages. You pay that provider directly — GradusReader doesn't resell AI usage.
What does GradusReader cost?
We haven’t set the app’s price yet. AI usage is separate: you pay your chosen provider directly, and GradusReader doesn’t resell it. We’ll share the app price with the waitlist before launch.
How long does it take to adapt a book?
It depends on the book’s length and the AI provider. Full-book processing is still being tested, so we don’t have a reliable time estimate yet.
Will the adaptation keep the author’s style?
It aims to make the language easier while preserving the story’s meaning. The checker looks for omissions, additions and contradictions, but it can’t guarantee the author’s exact voice.
Can I adapt non-fiction?
You can bring a text or EPUB file, including non-fiction. GradusReader checks language level and meaning; it doesn’t verify specialist facts or terminology.
What happens to my book file?
Your source file stays on your computer. When you adapt a passage, that selected text is sent to the AI provider you choose, so check that provider’s data terms.
Can I use any book?
Bring a text or EPUB file you have the right to use. GradusReader is a reading tool; it doesn’t grant rights to books you don’t own or have permission to use.
